A Family Man in the Remodeling Business

Going into business was something I always wanted to pursue. Being a young family man in my twenties, I didn’t have the funds available to do so. So, I had to find the highest-paying job with the best benefits. With those goals in mind, my searches brought me to the carpenters' union. I did everything from drywall to skyscrapers. I seemed to fall into heavy civil construction as my forte, unfortunately. This road required a lot of hours, long-distance travel, and time away from my family. When my second daughter was born, I wanted to make a change. I wanted to be more present. How could I achieve this with my current situation? I could not.

I always had a drive, desire, and knack for home renovations. I worked with my father in my teens. Both for his business as well as projects around the house. This provided the footing for what will be a lifelong career path. I enjoyed bringing old, boring spaces back to life. Even to this day, I use that same drive to improve things in my life, my home, boats, and cars. Breathing new life into old stuff is what I really enjoy. People say that if you do something you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. How could I achieve this, I thought? At this point in life, I had the means to start a business. So, after a lot of sleepless nights, talks with family, and much hesitation, I opened TopCraft Construction LLC.

Being in business has allowed me to target my own work areas, such as remodeling in Sarver, PA., and bring my passion and skill set to the communities, and most importantly, be more available for my daughter. I am more involved now than ever with family. After four years in business, I can confirm that if you do something you love, you won’t work a day in your life. I used to wake up miserable, tired, and lacking motivation. I wasn’t happy. The work was thankless and unappreciated. Every day is challenging, as to be expected, being self-employed. But I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m following my dream of remodeling homes in Western Pennsylvania.
